Opencv does not handle videos properly on Ubuntu Jaunty. In order to fix this, please follow the instructions given at this link:

Today, I found that the repository opencv mentioned at this this link is not working any more. Hence those having jaunty on their system should try some other links for solving this problem:
For instance, one may follow this link for installing opencv on ubuntu.
Another option could be to upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10.
